Message from
the Chair
March 17, 2005
Dear Friends,
The County Committee
is in good shape. Our
Treasury, under the able
management of Paul
Gilbert, is stronger than
it has been in a very
long time. Of course,
it's never large enough!
Also, the Maine
Democratic Party is in
good shape, and the
Caucus of County Chairs
has worked hard to make
sure we work efficiently
to win this year's
elections.
The Chair is a member of
the Democratic State
Committee, which meets
monthly. The Caucus of
County Chairs also meets
once a month, usually before the
DSC meeting. According to
our bylaws these are the
Chair's duties:
- To serve as the
general executive officer
and spokesperson of the
County Committee.
- To preside at all
meetings of the County
Committee.
- To follow directives
from the Democratic State
Committee (DSC).
- To be an ex officio
voting member of each of
standing sub-committee
and to appoint or cause
to be elected a chair of
each.
- To establish ad hoc
committees as needed to
address the interests and
concerns of the County
Committee.
- To attend all DSC and
Caucus of County Chairs
(CCC) meetings.
- To serve as a liaison
between the County
Committee and the DSC for
the exchange of
information concerning
the activities and
requirements of each
committee.
- To approve
disbursement of funds for
operating and emergency
expenses.
- To perform such other
duties that the County
Committee may assign.
Yours very truly,
Paul McGuire, Chair
Franklin County Democrats
